There’s so much history in the National Landmark Pullman Historic District, the only thing to do is take a tour. Designed as a production town for the first name in late-19th century comfortable train travel, the Pullman Palace Car Company, this architecturally robust South Side haven boasts many of the original 1881 structures. Learn about the man who envisioned it all, George M. Pullman, as you stroll up to the high-reaching clock tower and the expansive Hotel Florence. Being the first town of its kind in the U.S., the history you’ll encounter on this Historic Pullman Walking Tour will resonate well beyond the boundaries of Pullman.

Start out on this 90-minute First Sunday Walking Tour at the Historic Pullman Visitor Center (11141 S. Cottage Grove Ave.) at 1:30 pm on the dot on Sunday, May 7.

The tour also runs on the first Sunday of each month from June through October (June 3, July 1, August 5, September 2 and October 7).

Reservations are not required.
